It’s very interesting being a Midwesterner in this big world of ours. Once you “escape” the smaller town you are from, something wonderful happens. You meet other Midwesterners! We seem to be everywhere, spread out across the country. We tend to be drawn to each other and have the funniest things in common.
For example: Food
The Midwest is a meat and potatoes lover’s dream. Its not healthy, many times fried and we love it. Many Midwesterners will not eat Sushi. You can’t get them to eat it and they may even make odd noises to display their disgust. Until they actually go somewhere that you can eat fresh sushi, and get badgered by many friends, they aren’t going to even try it. We don’t have fresh sushi in the Midwest so if you have it there, it generally can make you feel icky and just the fishy smell alone will chase you away. They also have a tendency to put ketchup on damn near everything from eggs to rice, to steak(now that is a shame)
Humor:
Midwesterners are big on toilet humor and slapstick. They laugh easily at many things and tend to be the type of smart-ass that you would like to hit in the head.
Attitude:
No BS, straight answers to straight questions and many of us have BS hip waders on(figuratively) when entering into any negotiations. Those of you with a little grin on your face know just what I’m talking about.
Accent:
I have hear that newscasters that are from the Midwest are more successful because they have an accent that everyone can understand and is comforting at the same time. Some people say we don’t have an accent. Others think we are from the south. Being from the Midwest does make it easier to mimic a southern accent.

Having mastered the pasta maker, finding some new healthy but tasty recipes and getting some new kitchen gadgets, I’ve been cooking up a storm! I’ve been cooking up everything from baked salmon to Midwestern dumplings. My kitchen is always messy but the rewards are worth the cleanup time involved. Its pretty common in my house to see me in the kitchen stirring a pot or doused in flour. I should probably start taking some pictures of that! I’m thinking about writing a simple recipe book for single people. Its so difficult to cook for 1 person but I think I have it down pat. Add another project to the mix!

Sorry, for the tardy blog update. But frankly, my sweet, cute, sometimes a bit over zealous self has been busy preparing for AVN. I have a dynamic new design firm – Adult Image Consulting – partly owned by me – and we have been working hard on the redesign and re-launch of SarahBlake.com. It is not an easy task, but I finally have the support and people I need to achieve the goals I have set for myself this year. I am sitting here looking at the final design of SarahBlake.com and grinning ear to ear. The crisp look, the soft color, the elegance, the feminine feel, its just me and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. For once in my complicated life, simple wins.
After a six hour marketing meeting, we have decided the direction of the new content and photos. It will correlate to all the new sites we have planned (hey, I even have a design outline and deliverables schedule – go me!) By 1 AM this morning, we decided that I am going to work with an amazing, talented photographer that has a style that just doesn’t compare to anyone else I have worked with, with the exception of my favorite LA lady. He is so good, I put him under contract him to only shoot content for me for the next three months. He is going to be a giant.
Are you as excited as I am now? Are you tingling with anticipation too? Are you ready for sweet and fresh, yet erotica and alluring? Well, that is what you will find on the new site.
I think I came in my pants a little bit while writing this. The design is perfect, it is me! I am so excited, I have to share it with all of you. Let me know what you think!
